Why HDB Digital Locks?

Most HDB flats have two locks to think about: the wooden main door and the metal gate in front of it. The gap between them is small, so the door lock has to clear the gate when the door shuts. We confirm your exact door and gate from photos before you pay.

Main door, gate, or both

  • Main door only: start with the Mercury X6 for face and palm vein unlock and a built-in door viewer, or the Mercury X2 if you want a simple lock with no app.
  • Gate only: see our HDB gate locks. The Mercury G4 has a mechanical key on both sides of the gate, so you are never locked in or out.
  • Both: a door and gate bundle pairs a Mercury door lock with a G3 or G4 gate lock, and both can unlock together in one scan.

Replacing an old Samsung or Gateman lock

Door-to-gate distance

FAQ for HDB Digital Locks

Q1. Which digital lock is best for an HDB main door?

It depends on who lives with you. The Mercury X6 suits most families, with face and palm vein unlock and a built-in door viewer. The Mercury X5 gives you face and palm vein at a lower price. If you prefer a lock with no app or Wi-Fi, the Mercury X2 is the simplest choice.

Q2. Will a new lock cover the hole left by my old Samsung or Gateman lock?

In most cases, yes. Mercury locks are sized to cover the cut-out of most older Samsung and Gateman locks, so there is no visible hole to patch. We confirm it from photos of your current lock before installation.

Q3. Can my main door and gate unlock together?

Yes. Pair a Mercury X2, X5 or X6 door lock with a Mercury G3 or G4 gate lock and both can be set to unlock together in one scan. The Mercury door and gate bundle is the simplest way to buy both.

Q4. Do I need Wi-Fi for an HDB digital lock?

Only for app features such as remote access and alerts. App features on any brand need a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network: Mercury locks connect to it directly, and Aqara locks connect through an Aqara hub. Fingerprint, PIN, card and other on-lock methods keep working without the internet, and offline locks like the Mercury X2 need no Wi-Fi at all.

Q5. What happens if the battery runs out?

You get low battery warnings well before it runs flat. Most locks also have a USB-C port for emergency power from a phone power bank, and a mechanical key backup.
