One Lock for Your Door and Your Gate

The Aqara U100 is built to do a job most smart locks can't: work reliably on both a wooden main door and a metal HDB or landed-property gate. It combines fingerprint, app and Apple Home Key access with a genuinely weatherproof design, so you're not choosing between a smart lock for indoors and a separate one for outdoors.

For Wooden Doors

On a main entrance, bedroom or study door, the U100 behaves like a conventional premium smart lock: a deadbolt mechanism for real physical security, an auto-lock function so the door is never accidentally left open, and quiet operation that won't disturb a sleeping household at night.

For Metal Gates

On an HDB or landed-property gate, the same lock has to survive rain, humidity and direct sun while still unlocking reliably every day. The U100's sealed keypad and corrosion-resistant hardware are built with that outdoor duty cycle in mind, rather than being an indoor lock adapted after the fact.

Ways to Unlock

The U100 gives you six distinct ways in, so every member of the household can use whichever suits them:

• Fingerprint – a 3D semiconductor sensor reads your print in about half a second, rated at 98.6% accuracy. Unlike the flat, optical sensors found on budget locks, a semiconductor sensor reads the ridge pattern beneath the skin's surface, which is part of why it stays reliable even with slightly wet or dirty fingers.
• Apple Home Key – tap your iPhone or Apple Watch near the lock to unlock via NFC. There's no need to wake the phone, open an app, or even have a network connection — it works the same way tap-to-pay does, and continues to work even when your iPhone's battery is critically low.
• PIN code – set permanent, one-time or scheduled codes for family, cleaners or deliveries, with an anti-peep option that lets you pad your real code with decoy digits before or after it, so someone watching over your shoulder can't simply memorise the digits you pressed.
• NFC tag – two tags are included, useful for kids or anyone without a smartphone; they can be clipped to a school bag or keychain for an instant tap-to-unlock.
• Aqara app – unlock over Bluetooth when you're close, or remotely from anywhere once paired with the included Aqara Hub, which also lets you check who unlocked the door and when.
• Mechanical key – a physical backup for emergencies or a flat battery, hidden behind a small cover so it doesn't disrupt the lock's clean exterior look.

Built for Singapore's Weather

The U100's exterior keypad carries an IP65 rating: the "6" means it's fully dust-tight, and the "5" means it's protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. In practical terms, that's the difference between a lock that survives a Singapore thunderstorm and one that starts misbehaving after its first monsoon season — and it's the reason this lock can be installed on an exposed HDB gate, not just a sheltered front door.

Security & Auto-Lock

The lock meets BHMA Level 3 security standards — the same grading system used to rate conventional mechanical deadbolts on resistance to forced entry, kicking and drilling — paired with a proper deadbolt mechanism rather than a lighter-duty latch. A built-in gyroscope senses when the door or gate has physically closed, engaging the deadbolt automatically so you're never left wondering, halfway down the corridor, whether you actually locked up.

Battery & Power

Four standard AA batteries power the lock for up to 8 months of typical use — batteries you can buy at any convenience store, rather than a proprietary rechargeable pack you have to order in. Advance low-battery notifications are sent to your phone well before the lock actually dies, and if the batteries ever do run flat completely, a USB-C emergency port on the exterior lets you power the lock temporarily with any phone power bank to get back in.

Smart Home Integration

The included Aqara Hub (an E1 hub, bundled with every U100) connects the lock to Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT, so unlocking the door can trigger hallway lights, adjust air-con, or switch security cameras to "home" mode as part of a wider automation routine — useful whether you're building out a full smart home or just want the porch light to come on automatically when you walk in.

Installing on a Gate

Gate installations can require a metal gate with a thicker shaft, or minor modification, to fit the deadbolt mechanism properly — most standard HDB gates have shafts that are too thin as-is.
