Heavy-Duty Mortise Digital Locks for Landed Homes

Browse all 7 products Filter by brand, price and features

Landed homes usually have larger, heavier main doors than flats, so we recommend a heavy-duty mortise lock with more than one deadbolt. These are the mortise locks we recommend for terrace, semi-detached and bungalow main doors.

Why Landed Home Digital Locks?

A landed home main door is usually taller, wider and heavier than a flat's, and it takes more force when it is pushed or pried. That is why we recommend a mortise lock with several bolts rather than a single deadbolt.

Why bolt count matters

A deadbolt is the bar that slides from the lock into the door frame. One deadbolt holds the door at one point. Several deadbolts spread the load along the frame. Mercury mortise locks, from the Mercury X6 to the Mercury X2, use 3 deadbolts plus a double bolt. Many Korean mortise locks use a single deadbolt with a latch and sensor. The Aqara D100 and Aqara A100 use multi-point locking: a door bolt, 3 main bolts and a master bolt that engage together.

Fully automatic or semi-automatic locking

On a fully automatic lock, the latch and every bolt lock by themselves as soon as the door closes. The Mercury locks, Aqara D100 and Aqara D200i work this way. The Aqara A100 is semi-automatic: the latch locks on its own, but you lift the handle to throw the bolts.

The double bolt: peace of mind at night

When everyone is home for the night, turn on the double bolt from inside. While it is on, no one outside can unlock the door electronically: not by PIN, card, fingerprint, face or app. From inside, the door still opens as normal.

Doors this suits

Solid timber doors, wide doors and tall doors. The Mercury V6 suits doors from 40mm to 120mm thick, which covers most thick landed doors. Send us photos first and we will confirm the fit.

Smart or simple

  • Face and palm vein: the Mercury X6, V6 and X5 unlock hands-free and give you an app for alerts and access.
  • Apple Home: the Aqara D100, A100 and D200i support Apple Home Key.
  • No app: the Mercury X2 works fully offline with fingerprint, PIN, card and key.

Side and back doors

Landed homes have more than one way in. For glass back doors, see our glass door digital locks. For sliding doors, see sliding door digital locks.

FAQ for Landed Home Digital Locks

Q1. How many bolts does a Mercury mortise lock have?

Mercury mortise locks, including the X6, V6, X5 and X2, have 3 deadbolts plus 1 double bolt, which works as a latch bolt with a sensor. Many Korean mortise locks have a single deadbolt with a latch and sensor.

Q2. What is a double bolt on a digital lock?

It is an extra bolt you turn on from inside. While it is on, no one outside can unlock the door electronically, whether by PIN, card, fingerprint, face or app. It gives you peace of mind at night when the whole family is home.

Q3. Will a mortise digital lock fit my heavy or extra-wide landed door?

Most solid timber landed doors are a good fit for a mortise lock. The Mercury V6 suits doors from 40mm to 120mm thick. Send us photos of your door and we will confirm the fit before you buy.

Q4. Can I manage more than one door from one app?

Yes. Mercury app locks all run in the same Tuya Smart app, and Aqara locks run together in the Aqara Home app, so you can manage a front door and a back door from one place. The Mercury X2 is offline and has no app.

Q5. Can I still use a key?

Yes. Every lock in this collection has a mechanical key backup.
