The Lockin V5 Max uses palm vein and facial recognition as its primary biometric methods — both faster to enrol and easier for elderly or young family members than fingerprint scanning, since neither requires pressing firmly on a small sensor pad — and its underlying recognition technology has been recognised with a Red Dot Design Award, one of the most established design awards internationally.
Why Palm Vein Recognition
Palm vein scanning reads the unique pattern of veins beneath the skin of your palm, using near-infrared light rather than a surface scan. Because it reads a pattern under the skin rather than surface ridges, it isn't thrown off by wet hands, calluses, or the fine surface wear that can make older fingers harder for a standard fingerprint sensor to read reliably — which is exactly why it tends to work well for both young children and elderly household members.
Ways to Unlock
Palm vein, face and fingerprint recognition each store up to 50 profiles, alongside 50 PIN codes and 25 NFC tags, plus a physical key backup. One-time and periodic PIN codes are available for part-time cleaners or occasional guests, and the Bluetooth app works within about 5 metres of the lock — close enough for reliable use at the door without draining your phone's battery scanning for a connection from across the house.
